A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his initial trophy for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has had a torrid period, managing just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in especial - led to him falling of the elite rankings and eventually separating with long-time trainer Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought three-set victory over challenger Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's maiden championship since the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface from spring of that year.

The win also means Medvedev has achieved twenty-one titles at 21 various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my children at once, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, featuring in Halle previously this season.

The player's retrieving approach and frequent reactions on the playing surface had caused observers to question if his ability to play at the highest level was concluded.

But the player has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and play assertively, backed up by an better serve.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the initial set against the difficult opponent, taking four of the last five points to gain the advantage.

Both players traded break points in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his first tour championship, seized the initiative to create a third set.

Moutet saved four early-game chances in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev broke to that score to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched victory with a point at the net, with Moutet incapable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
