Assassin's Creed Reveals Unexpected AoT Collaboration for Thanksgiving
In a surprising partnership that challenges conventional expectations, Ubisoft has announced an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost additional story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Questline Disclosed
According to the official announcement, "A strange confrontation draws protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where hints of forbidden practices and fearsome metamorphoses resonate through the darkness." The narrative presents a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who tasks the pair with journeying into the Crystal Cave—a key location from Attack on Titan—to save her ally from a clandestine cult.
The adventure focuses on "peculiar tests and a fearsome enemy" and is accessible to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Settings and Changes
The preview showcases the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was earlier where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through ages. The trailer concludes with a striking scene showing a character, likely the hostage, changing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Items and Extra Content
Players who successfully complete the quest will obtain an unique katana in addition to multiple objects hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-based attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Exclusive weapons
- Survey Corps mount
Latest Free Story Update
This release also introduces the game's third complimentary story content, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap signature abilities: Naoe debuts a performative variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a fresh environmental puzzle that may ultimately clarify some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This marks hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with popular anime franchises. The series formerly featured a 2020 cross-promotional story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
